Met Office Amber Cold Health Alert: How to help homeless people
The Met Office Amber Cold Health Alert is in effect for the North West until 11 January at 12:00pm.
During the ongoing severe weather, it is even more important than usual that anyone who is aware of or sees someone sleeping rough in Wirral reports it via StreetLink (StreetLink - Connecting people sleeping rough to local services) or contacts the Rough Sleeper Outreach Service on 07821 125119 so that assistance can be offered.
When reporting online via StreetLink, please include as much location detail as possible (street name, landmark, postcode). This will create an alert which goes to the local outreach team, who will then find and offer assistance to the person.
This is the process to help homeless people sleeping rough all year round, but during periods of extreme weather such as the cold we’re experiencing at the moment, it’s even more important that this process is followed to ensure we can help keep anyone sleeping on the streets safe.
Please take extra care during this period, and check on vulnerable friends, family, and neighbours.
