Health and Care Jobs Fair to take place in Birkenhead
A jobs fair aimed at helping more people work in the health and care sector is taking place at the Pyramids in Birkenhead this month (January).
If you’re looking for a new career or a change of jobs or to start training this could be the way forward.
Wirral Council is hosting the Health and Care Jobs Fair to connect people with employers and training providers for those looking to take the next step into this rewarding sector.
The event will feature more than 20 employers and training providers including Cheshire and Wirral Partnership NHS Foundation Trust and Autism Together. Employers will be advertising live vacancies with some offering the chance to apply on the day – a practical one-stop shop for those seeking to kickstart their career.
There will also be guidance to boost employability, including CV and application tips, plus information on training opportunities from local providers including Wirral Met College and The University of Chester, as well as information on apprenticeships for those who want to combine learning with hands-on experience.
Like previous jobs fairs, this event is funded by the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority, through the city region’s UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) allocation.
The Jobs Fair will be held in The Pyramids, Birkenhead in the shop opposite River Island on Thursday 22 January, from 11am to 2pm, with pre-bookable appointments/quiet hour appointments available 10am – 11am for those who prefer to attend in a quieter, calmer environment.
It is aimed at everyone looking to work in the Health and Care sector, from school leavers ready to start their career, to those looking for a change in direction or returning to work.
There will also be opportunities for experienced professionals such as Support Workers or health visitors, as well as those seeking training, apprenticeships or entry level roles.
Chair of Wirral Council’s Economy, Regeneration and Housing Committee, Cllr Mark Skillicorn, said:
We have held a number of jobs fairs in recent years and they have all been incredibly successful at connecting those looking for work and training with employers and education providers.
This jobs fair once again is focused on the health and care sector which is one of the most valuable and important areas of work, helping some of the most vulnerable in our communities and providing a vital lifeline.
As we move into a new year if you are looking for a rewarding and valuable role, or are seeking a new challenge, then this could be the opportunity to find out more about this sector and maybe secure that new role or training.
Cllr Mike Wharton, Liverpool City Region Combined Authority Cabinet Member for Business, Investment and Trade, said:
Jobs fairs like this are a really important and efficient way for people looking to work in a specific sector to find out about available jobs and training and even apply for positions at the event. With an ageing population we know that our health and care sector will only become more important in the future. I’d encourage anyone with an interest in this vital and rewarding field to come down to this event and find out what is on offer.
