Free parking at The Pyramids Shopping Centre during equipment upgrades
The Pyramids Shopping Centre, Birkenhead will be installing new car parking barriers and equipment at both its Borough Road and Conway Street car parks from mid-September.
The upgrades in the car parks come as improvement works are also set to be carried out to two town centre side streets.
The car park barriers and equipment works started on Monday 14th September at the Borough Road car park at The Pyramids.
They will then take place from Monday 21st September at the Conway Street car park at The Grange.
Each installation will last approximately one week and during this time free car parking will be available across both car parks throughout the installation period.
The new equipment will replace outdated systems to provide a more reliable parking experience for visitors.
During this time access to the car parks may be restricted but at least one entrance and exit will remain open in the car park which is undergoing the works to maintain access for visitors. However, shoppers are advised that during busy periods they should allow for additional journey time.
Improvement works on St John Street and Catherine Street in Birkenhead are also expected to start from Wednesday 16th September and will take approximately six weeks.
During this period, St John Street will be closed to vehicles, and a diversion route will be in place for deliveries – local businesses are being kept up to date on the works. Pedestrian access will be maintained at all times during business hours, while Catherine Street will remain accessible to pedestrians throughout the works during business hours.
Officers have planned carefully to minimise disruption and we hope the free parking will help ensure customers continue to have a positive shopping experience when they come into the town centre.
These improvements are part of our ongoing commitment to making Birkenhead town centre as accessible and convenient as possible for residents and visitors. Once installed, the new parking barriers and equipment will provide a more reliable and user-friendly parking experience for everyone using The Pyramids and The Grange car parks.
