Design team appointed for Liscard town centre public spaces improvements
A specialist design consultancy is set to take forward the next stage of plans to transform public spaces in Liscard town centre.
Following a competitive procurement process Buro Happold Limited has been appointed to develop detailed designs for improvements to the town centre.
The works are part of the Liscard Regeneration Programme and the aim is to create a more attractive, accessible and welcoming environment for residents, visitors and businesses.
The consultancy team will now move forward with the necessary surveys and investigations, as well as preparing tender documentation for future construction works.
Funding for the contract, which has a total value of £225,586, is through the Council's Local Regeneration Fund, which was approved by the Economy, Regeneration and Housing Committee earlier this year.
The council’s Economy, Regeneration and Housing Committee recently approved plans to sell Dominick House to the owners of the adjacent Cherry Tree shopping centre, in a move which is hoped will lead to its demolition.

The public realm improvements will help create a more attractive and accessible town centre that supports local businesses, encourages more visitors and provides a better experience for everyone who lives, works and spends time in Liscard.
The public realm project forms part of the wider Liscard Regeneration Programme, which aims to support investment, improve the appearance and function of the town centre and create opportunities for sustainable economic growth.
