Birkenhead business joins "Love Where You Live" campaign
A Birkenhead business has demonstrated how companies can help improve Wirral’s environment by filling more than 30 bags of litter.
WABTEC - an engineering facility that specialises in railway equipment - cleared waste around Morpeth Wharf near to its base.
The firm borrowed 30 sets of high-viz jackets, litter pickers, hoops and bags from Wirral Council to clear rubbish near to the ferry terminal.
As well as making a positive contribution to the local environment and community, the event also helped WABTEC go some way to meeting their corporate social responsibility of operating in a responsible and sustainable way.
The litter pick showed how businesses can support the council’s “Love Where You Live” campaign, which shines a light on those in the borough who help make it a better place.
It was a really great event for the team, not only to help the local environment, but also as a team building event. It enabled staff to get out of the factory and improve their mental health.
I think it's brilliant that the local council has engaged and provided all the equipment to allow us to be able to do this event today, which is really beneficial to our business and also the local community.
The ‘Love Where You Live’ initiative has been reignited across Wirral as a way of enabling community-minded residents to get involved in local activities such as litter-picking to help improve their neighbourhoods.
It’s inspiring to look forward to the innovative ideas and plans that Wirral residents will develop over the coming months to improve their local communities.
