Residents invited to vote on community projects at EVOLVE funding event
Groups from three Wirral communities who have submitted funding bids to deliver projects in their area will be asked to talk through their ideas to residents and ask for their vote at a public event this month.
The groups operating within Wirral's three EVOLVE areas – Beechwood & Ballantyne, Noctorum and Woodchurch – recently submitted their applications for funding of up to £2,000 that they hope to use to deliver their idea.
The projects or initiatives they want to deliver need to focus on one or more themes of health and wellbeing, reducing or preventing crime and/or anti-social behaviour, youth engagement/intervention, environmental issues or community cohesion.
Bidding groups will now get to ‘pitch’ their ideas to local people in an event that is taking place at New Brighton’s Floral Pavilion Theatre and Conference Centre on August 24th from 2pm to 6pm.
Anyone who lives, works or uses services within Beechwood & Ballantyne, Noctorum or Woodchurch is eligible to vote. They can visit and chat to groups at the event and choose their favourite ideas - every person voting will be entered into a free prize giveaway. Voting is from 2pm to 4.30pm.
There will be free refreshments and snacks at the event and children can enjoy arts and crafts and free face painting.
To help residents get to the venue, a free transport service will be available on the day, providing a shuttle bus from the three estates to the Floral and back three times during the event – the times can be found below.
Launching the latest round of funding in July, Cllr Jenny Jonhson, Chair of the Tourism, Communities, Culture and Leisure Committee for Wirral Council, said:
As has been demonstrated in previous years, the funding being provided under this small grants scheme can enable local, community-minded people to deliver a project or event which makes a difference and demonstrates that, together, the community is stronger.
EVOLVE Wirral is a Clear, Hold, Build initiative rolled out by the Home Office across the UK to improve communities most affected by serious and organised crime.
