Local Plan consultation is extended for three weeks

Wirral residents, businesses and community organisations will have an extra three weeks to help shape the future of the borough in direct response to public feedback.

The consultation, which marks the first step in updating the Local Plan for Wirral, will now remain open until 5pm on Friday 28 August 2026. 

A Local Plan sets out the long-term vision for how an area will develop and grow, providing the planning framework that guides future development and helps determine planning applications across the borough.

Although Wirral's current Local Plan was adopted in March 2025, changes to national planning requirements mean it must now be reviewed and updated to ensure it remains in line with government policy.

The consultation had originally been due to close at 5pm on 6 August 2026. However, the council has now extended the consultation period until 28 August.

The additional time will give stakeholders a greater opportunity to review the consultation document and provide feedback.

Residents who would prefer to view a printed version of the consultation document can do so in their local library.
