Artificial Intelligence will be in the spotlight at an upcoming Jobs Fair for young people through dedicated sessions on using AI tools to boost your employment and training searches.

The Jobs Fair focused on helping young people aged 16-25 get into work and training is being held in at the Floral Pavilion on Thursday March 5.

The event – from 11am to 2pm – will give young people a chance to find out direct from employers and training providers about jobs, apprenticeships and work experience.

There will also be a chance for those attending the Fair to learn how to use AI in searching for the right job or training, from using it to define career goals, create a compelling CV and prepare for interviews in special sessions.

The AI sessions will be an hour long and will run between 10am – 2pm on the day of the jobs fair. Booking ahead for the AI sessions is essential – anyone interested should email economicgrowthservice@wirral.gov.uk, and we will match availability and confirm the booking.

Leader of Wirral Council, Cllr Paula Basnett, said:

These jobs fairs have proven to be hugely successful in connecting people looking for work and training with those seeking staff or offering training and education. This time using the latest AI tools will bring an extra dimension to the event, helping young people use the latest technological tools to help them get ahead.

I would urge any young person looking to get their first step on the careers ladder, get into education or find training and apprenticeships to come along see how they can get help making that step into their career.

Cllr Mike Wharton, Liverpool City Region Cabinet Member for Business, Investment and Trade, said:

I’d encourage any young person unsure about their next steps in employment, education or training to come down to this jobs fair and find out more about the opportunities open to them.  Deciding what’s right for you is hugely challenging and the more information you can access the more informed your decision will be.  This Fair also offers the chance to find out more about how to make AI work for you, skills that will only become more important in the coming years.

There will also be advice on further education for those aged 16+, or discover new career paths and explore opportunities across a wide range of industries from construction and housing to the police and the armed forces.

Organised by Wirral Council this Launchpad Jobs and Careers Fair is specifically for young people aged 16-25, including recent school leavers looking for entry level opportunities or further education, or who like the idea of learning on the job – there will be a wide range of options to discover.

The Jobs Fair is funded by the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority, through the city region’s UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) allocation.

Employers and training providers expected to be attending the Fair include British Army • Citizens Advice Wirral • Desian Education • HMRC • Home Office • Magenta • Krol Corlett Construction • Merseyside Police • Northstone • PeoplePlus • Persimmon Homes • Reachout & Wirral Change • Spark Medical • Spark Youth • Vistry • Wirral Council Wirral • Met College and • Future Yard
