Meet employers with seasonal and permanent vacancies across Wirral
If you’re looking for seasonal work in the run up to Christmas, searching for a new job, or thinking of changing careers the next Jobs Fair could be just what you need.
More than 30 employers and training providers from in and around Wirral will be there for job seekers to talk to and find out about the opportunities available.
The event is being held at Birkenhead Market’s covered outdoor space, next to Birkenhead Bus Station on Friday 19th September between 11am – 2pm. Places can be booked in advance, or you can just turn up on the day.
Employers from a variety of sectors will be offering a wide range of temporary seasonal roles, fixed term contract and permanent vacancies with the opportunity to apply for some roles there and then.
Companies confirmed to be offering roles at the event so far include Argyle Satellite, United Utilities, Merseyside Police, Adada Care, Kiely Bros, Vistry, NHS Cheshire and Wirral Partnership, A&B Engineering and more.
Funded by the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority, through the city region’s UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) allocation, the event is the latest in the council’s Jobs Fair programme. This has so far seen four major recruitment events take place with 1,674 attendees registered.
Surveys of those who have attended previous events indicated that 24% of people who came had provisionally been offered a job or place on a training course as a result of the jobs fair.
Cllr Mark Skillicorn, chair of Wirral Council’s Economy, Regeneration and Housing Committee, said:
These Jobs Fair events have been incredibly successful in helping people get into work and training. They are a fantastic opportunity for both those looking for work or a new role, and for employers and training providers to meet potential employees and tap into the dedicated, skilled local talent we have here in Wirral.
I would urge anyone looking for work to take this opportunity and employers top make the most of this chance to find out more about the skilled and talented workforce in this borough.
Councillor Mike Wharton, Liverpool City Region Combined Authority Cabinet Member for Business and Trade, said:
This is a brilliant, tried and tested opportunity for anyone looking for a new job or to move into the workplace, which is why we are supporting it. It also provides the chance for local employers to speak to lots of job seekers. So whether you are an individual looking for work or a business owner with vacancies to fill I’d encourage everyone to get involved with this fantastic event.
As well as the opportunity to apply for jobs, there will also be help available for those looking to join the workplace. Representatives from ReachOut, the council’s commissioned worklessness support service, will be offering support on getting back into work, including CV and application advice.
