Annual Canvass Underway
Wirral Council’s annual canvass of voters (and some future voters) got underway this week, with emails heading to the more than 102,000 residents that the elections team hold email addresses for.
The annual canvass is carried out each year to ensure the electoral register is accurate and complete.
The law says that residents must provide the information if they are contacted, so you must respond whether there are changes at your address or not.
Being on the electoral register also provides residents with an improved credit score, through validating their address.
The deadline for residents to respond to the annual canvass email is Monday 14 July 2025.
If the Council doesn't have an email address recorded for any residents of a household, or doesn't receive a response to its email, a paper form will be hand delivered to the address. Forms will start to be delivered from the end of July.
Kris Cureton, Electoral Services Manager for Wirral Council, said:
Completing your annual canvass return is quick and easy to do, allows us to keep the electoral register up to date, and ensures you can vote in upcoming elections.
Doing your bit now means we can complete the canvass as quickly and smoothly as possible, and we won’t need to contact you again for another year.
