Recovery Fest brings people together to celebrate hope, creativity and community
Birkenhead Market was filled with music, creativity and inspiring stories as people from across Wirral came together for Recovery Fest 2026.
Organised by Wirral Council and partners from across Wirral's addiction support community, the second annual event celebrates addiction recovery, raises awareness of local support and creates opportunities for people to connect, share experiences and challenge stigma.
Residents, families, volunteers, local organisations and people at all stages of their recovery journey enjoyed a packed programme of activities throughout the day, including live music, theatre, comedy, art exhibitions, wellbeing activities and creative workshops.
Community stalls and information stands gave visitors the chance to find out more about support services available across the borough, while performances throughout the day showcased the talent, creativity and resilience found across Wirral.
One of the standout moments of the day was the Wirral Recovery Awards, which celebrated the people and organisations helping to make a positive difference across the borough. Awards recognised inspiring personal journeys, community champions, creative contributions, outstanding professional support, innovative approaches to recovery and the power of partnership working to create lasting change.
Visitors also enjoyed performances from Spider Project CIC, AURA Recovery, Laugh For Life Comedy, Wirral Mind Choir and local musician Cal Ruddy, whose powerful set helped bring the day to a close.
As well as celebrating achievements, Recovery Fest highlighted an important message: support is available, people do recover, and nobody has to face challenges alone.
While Recovery Fest may be over for another year, help and support are available all year round for anyone concerned about their own alcohol or drug use, or for those supporting a friend, family member or loved one.
