Drop-in and find out how being online can help you every day
An event to help more people get the most out of being online is taking place in Wirral in February.
To be held at The Lauries Centre in Birkenhead it is part of a series of ‘Login LCR Roadshow Events’ across the Liverpool City Region.
These drop-in style events allow people to access support in using online services and will offer advice about making the most of being online as well as giving out take-home resources, such as the Helping You Online Guide and other leaflets.
There will also be a chance to pick up hints, tips and tricks to stay safe online along with help on staying connected and advice on local community digital hubs, libraries and support groups to continue providing help and advice.
According to the Lloyds Bank Consumer Digital Index, more than 25% of residents in Liverpool City Region lack the digital skills needed such as being able to communicate online, manage information safely, and manage purchases and other transactions in a secure way.
Improved digital inclusion is crucial for reducing inequalities and promoting economic growth by helping people access educational resources, job opportunities, healthcare services, government services, and other benefits that are increasingly available online.
The Login LCR scheme is backed by the Government’s Digital Inclusion Innovation Fund and the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology to help residents improve their digital skills and help with access to devices, connectivity, and digital skills—particularly for those most at risk of being left behind.
Leader of Wirral Council, Cllr Paula Basnett, said:
There is a real digital divide and that can put people at a clear and avoidable disadvantage, whether it’s accessing job applications, healthcare or even a bargain purchase, while better knowledge of online communications can also help people stay better connected with loved ones.
This roadshow will be an ideal opportunity for people to find out how using online resources can help them in their everyday life and I would urge anyone who feels they could do with a little help with the digital world to drop in and take this chance to get help with making the most out of being online.
