Public Hearing on Hoylake Beach Town or Village Green Application

A public hearing will take place as part of the ongoing consideration of an application to register Hoylake Beach as a Town or Village Green.

Wirral Council, acting as the registration authority, received an application seeking Town or Village Green status for Hoylake Beach and has appointed an independent inspector to make a recommendation on the application.

A number of preliminary legal matters have already been considered and determined. The remaining issue for consideration is whether use of the land has been "as of right" by local people for lawful sports and pastimes over the relevant 20-year period.

To assist with this assessment, the independent inspector will hold a short public hearing on:

11:30am to 1:30pm

Melrose Hall

Station Road, Hoylake, CH47 3BU

The hearing will provide the inspector with an opportunity to hear evidence from witnesses appearing on behalf of the applicant, who will present evidence relating to the use of the land in support of the application.

Members of the public who wish to make representations regarding use of the land during the relevant 20-year period are invited to contact Wirral Council no later than 3pm on Thursday 6 August 2026. Anyone wishing to participate should provide a copy of their witness statement when making contact.
