Weather warning issued for Wirral

The Met Office has issued weather warnings for Wirral as Storm Éowyn is expected to bring very strong winds from 6am on Friday 24 January and across the weekend. 

Support for the homeless 

Wirral’s Severe Weather Emergency Protocol is in place across the borough, from 9pm Thursday 23 January until 9am on Saturday 25 January, for anyone identified as sleeping rough. Anyone with concerns is asked to report via routes below:

Trees

With strong winds forecast, people are urged to steer clear of woodlands and wooded areas in parks.

The Council will be working closely with our tree contractor and additional teams are on standby over the weekend. 

If you see a tree along the highway that is damaged and at risk of falling, please call StreetScene on 0151 606 2004 (9am-5pm, Mon-Fri) or 0151 647 7810 (out of hours).

If you believe there is an immediate threat or danger, please call 999.

Highways 

Our severe weather protocol is in place with area inspectors out across the weekend.

  • Utilities- If you experience a power cut, call 105 to report this to your provider.

Residents are advised that the council's social media channels are not the place to report a problem. Most issues can be reported via our website.
