New funding offers opportunity to boost local affordable housing
Leader of Wirral Council, Councillor Paula Basnett, has welcomed news that the Liverpool City Region is set to receive £380 million to help deliver around 3,100 new homes.
The City Region’s allocation forms part of the Government’s Social and Affordable Homes Programme, and is intended to increase the supply of affordable and social housing, helping more people access safe, secure and good-quality homes.
The funding aligns closely with the ambitions of the recently launched Wirral Strategic Housing Partnership, which brings together organisations from across the housing sector to increase the supply of affordable homes, tackle homelessness and improve housing outcomes for residents.
This is a resoundingly positive announcement and one that has the potential to make a real difference for people across Wirral.
