Have Your Say on the Future of Wirral Watersports Centre
Wirral Council is inviting residents, visitors, and watersports enthusiasts to take part in an important public consultation on the future of the Wirral Watersports Centre, located at the iconic West Kirby Marine Lake.
The centre has long been a cherished destination for water-based recreation, offering a wide range of activities that promote health, wellbeing, and community engagement. From sailing and windsurfing to paddleboarding and kayaking, it’s a place where people of all ages and abilities come together to enjoy the outdoors and stay active.
Currently operated by the Council, the Watersports Centre provides valuable services but requires a significant financial subsidy to remain open. In light of increasing operational costs, changing patterns of usage, and the need to modernise facilities, we are exploring a new operating model, which could involve partnering with a specialist provider to deliver service.
This review is part of a broader strategy to make leisure services across Wirral more resilient and responsive to community needs.
Whether you're a regular user, a local resident, a business owner, or simply someone who cares about the future of community leisure services, we want to hear from you. Your feedback will play a vital role in shaping the future of the Watersports Centre.
