Wirral Council is inviting residents, community groups and other interested organisations to take part in a public consultation as part of a borough-wide review of polling districts and polling places.

The consultation runs from today (10 August 2026) until 5.00pm on 18 September 2026 and follows the recent Local Government Boundary Review.

The outcome of this review will be implemented for the local elections on 6 May 2027.

As part of the statutory review, the Council will examine the current polling districts and polling places across the borough to ensure that voting arrangements continue to meet the needs of electors and provide reasonable facilities for voting.

All registered electors in Wirral are encouraged to have their say and share their views on where they cast their vote. The Council is particularly keen to receive comments and suggestions from individuals and organisations with knowledge or expertise relating to accessibility and the needs of voters with disabilities.

In addition to consulting the public, the Council will seek representations from local political parties, Wirral Councillors, Members of Parliament and the Acting Returning Officer.

Where respondents believe that an existing polling place is unsuitable, they are encouraged, where possible, to suggest alternative venues that may be appropriate for use as polling places.

Details of the current polling districts and polling places will be available on Wirral Council's 'Have Your Say' website portal from 10 August 2026. Information can also be obtained from the Electoral Services team.

Comments and representations can be submitted by post or email and must be received by 5.00pm on Friday 18 September 2026.
