Wirral launches new Strategic Housing Partnership
Wirral Council has established a new Strategic Housing Partnership (SHP), bringing together key organisations from across the Liverpool City Region to improve coordination on the delivery of good-quality, affordable and sustainable housing.
The Partnership provides a forum for collaborative working at a time when many areas are experiencing well-recognised pressures across their housing systems.
The inaugural meeting brought together senior representatives from Homes England, the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority, registered housing providers and private sector developers. The group will work collectively to align funding opportunities, support regeneration priorities and help improve housing outcomes for residents.
Access to safe, good‑quality and affordable housing remains a challenge for many people. Strengthening partnership working across the region helps us coordinate investment, share expertise and support long‑term, sustainable communities. This new partnership is an important step toward improving housing choices for residents.
The Strategic Housing Partnership will focus on:
- Improving access to affordable and suitable homes
- Supporting regeneration and place‑making
- Enhancing housing quality and standards
- Strengthening coordination between public and private sector partners
- Aligning programmes and investment to support better resident outcomes
By uniting partners behind a shared vision, the Strategic Housing Partnership signals a renewed commitment to coordinated action on the housing challenges facing Wirral.
The Council and its partners will continue working together to support sustainable housing growth, encourage regeneration, and improve the quality and range of homes available to residents across Wirral.
