New app provides guidance on how to manage healthy relationships
A new app has been launched to help people spot signs of abusive behaviours within relationships.
‘Healthy Relationships, Healthy You!’ has been designed by 'The Paul Lavelle Foundation' to coincide with the Healthy Relationship Education workshops they hold in schools and colleges.
The app uses interactive quizzes and case studies to help people identify the characteristics of unhealthy relationships and explains the various forms of domestic abuse.
It also gives contact information for agencies who can support individuals with any concerns about unhealthy relationships and/or domestic abuse.
‘The Paul Lavelle Foundation’ raises awareness of male domestic abuse. They support male victims/survivors offering virtual, online and telephone advice and advocacy or face-to-face appointments in the community space: The Men’s Hub.
The foundation is a partner in the Wirral Domestic Abuse Alliance which is a formal partnership between a range of statutory authorities and voluntary organisations. The Alliance oversees delivery of the Wirral Council's Domestic Abuse No Excuse Strategy. This partnership is committed to making Wirral a place where as few people as possible are affected by domestic abuse but those who are can get help to end the abuse and go on to live the lives they want.
The app offers help and advice for secondary school age upwards and is free to download on Google Google Play: Healthy Relationships or iTunes: Healthy Relationships
If you feel in immediate danger, you should always call 999.
You can always talk to someone you trust - it’s likely they’ve spotted some red flags and are waiting for you to tell them so they can help you. Find local agencies who can help you through the Wirral InfoBank website and It's Never OK Wirral.
