COVID-19 Update: Living Safely with Covid, Testing and Symptoms
The next phase of a consultation asking Wirral residents about how they are served by pharmacy services is now live.
On Wednesday 23rd March 2022, Wirral’s Health and Wellbeing Board published a draft of its latest Pharmaceutical Needs Assessment (PNA), which describes current pharmacy services in Wirral along with an assessment of the needs of the local people for pharmacy services.
The new PNA will continue to be used to inform commissioning decisions by local authorities, NHS England, Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) and the soon to be formed local Integrated Care System and Board.
The first phase of consultation at the end of 2021 showed that Wirral is well served by community pharmacies and local residents are used to them being there when they need them, dispensing medicines, good advice and more.
Having considered the findings of the first consultation including information from local pharmacies, the Health and Wellbeing Board has reported it is satisfied there is no gap in provision of pharmaceutical services in Wirral – this is part of the draft PNA.
This next phase of the consultation is asking residents to provide feedback on the draft 2022/2025 PNA, particularly if there are omissions, additions or any general comments that can be made.
Julie Webster, Wirral’s Director of Public Health, said:
Local residents really embraced the first phase of this consultation with hundreds of people sharing their views. We’re really grateful for this input as it helps shape the services we all use. We’re now asking our communities to finalise the process with us to make sure the PNA – the blueprint for pharmaceutical services in the next five years – is accurate and reflects what local people need.
The Draft PNA can be found on the Wirral Council website with the feedback survey available here
The survey opens at 10.30am on Tuesday 5th April 2022 and the deadline to submit your responses is 5pm on Friday 10th June 2022.
A new PNA will be published by 30th September 2022.
