Celebrate Wirral Walking Festival this May

22 April 2022
Group of people walking in park

Spring in to action this May and take part in Wirral Walking Festival. The annual event, co-ordinated by Wirral Sports Development and Active Wirral, highlights the range of walks that take place in the peninsula, from short strolls to energetic rambles.

The walks are all completely free, suit all ages and abilities and many are accessible to people with limited mobility.

Fiona Hanik, Wirral Walking Festival Co-ordinator said: “After a difficult few years due to the pandemic, walking has never been so important in people’s lives. We’ve seen more and more people getting out locally to help them stay fit and healthy, which is wonderful to see."

"Our walks include everything from culture and heritage walks, to coast and countryside and are organised by our amazing volunteers, who always offer a warm welcome. If anyone is looking to exercise more and meet new people, join us this May!”

WHY WALKING IS SO GOOD FOR YOU:

• walking regularly is great for your health and fitness

• your mental health improves with regular exercise too

• walking is free and accessible to all

• walking groups are a good way to meet new people

• walking gives you the perfect opportunity to explore Wirral
