Residents asked to name the cat at Eureka! Science + Discovery
Wirral residents are being asked to come up with the name of one of the star attractions of Eureka! Science + Discovery - a giant cat!
Although the exhibits and interactive experiences are top secret at the moment, more than 120 young ‘Co-Creators’ from the region have been involved in designing them with the help of local communities and partners across the Liverpool City Region, including Ørsted, Unilever, Alder Hey Children’s Hospital and Liverpool John Moores University.
Eureka!’s Chief Executive, Leigh-Anne Stradeski said: “We want to get young people more excited about science and technology, helping to encourage them to explore and fall in love with STEAM subjects.”
The £11.4m attraction has been funded by several partners, including a £6.4m grant from the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority’s Strategic Investment Fund. Other key funders and partners include Wirral Council, with the attraction playing a key part in extensive regeneration plans to revitalise Birkenhead, its iconic waterfront and the Left Bank area.
The top six shortlisted names will be put to a public vote on Monday 15 August and whoever’s name in chosen will win a free family annual pass for Eureka! Science + Discovery.
