World Social Work Day marked by Wirral's children's services

To mark World Social Work Day on 19th March, staff in children’s services in Wirral Council came together and celebrated the work they do to make a difference the lives of those children and families who need it most, with the first #BeTheDifference event.

The session was a chance to recognise the hard work and dedication of staff across the service and an opportunity to make more of a difference by raising money to support care leavers to go on a residential trip,  a raffle of donated prizes.

Before the event Staff were asked to nominate any colleagues who they recognised as going the extra mile and making a difference to the lives of children and their families. All nominations were displayed during the lunch time session for colleagues to take a look at and recognise their colleagues.

The event was also the opportunity for staff in the service to find out more about the council’s recently launched #BeTheDifference campaign. An initiative to inspire staff, practitioners and volunteers to do all that they can to help those children and families who need it most.
