Statement on flytipping at M53 junction one

We are aware of large mounds of waste that were dumped under the M53 bridge near the Junction One retail park at Bidston Moss.

This is a disgraceful and extreme example of fly-tipping on what appears to be an industrial scale at a very public location.

Wirral Council is investigating who is responsible for dumping this waste, and will be using all means at the authority’s disposal to identify the perpetrators. This will include examining cctv footage from the area and working with partners to track down those responsible and then ensure they are brought to justice.

This is significant amount of rubbish dumped on council land which will now also need to be properly disposed, which will take time and considerable cost.

We also urge anyone, for example people walking nearby or have dash-cam footage of vehicles dumping rubbish, or who has information about the fly-tipping, to report it.

For more information about what to do if you see someone fly-tipping see the Wirral Council website.
