More face-to-face support for families at Brassey Gardens Children's Centre

Brassey Gardens Children’s Centre has partially reopened this week to offer face-to-face support to families, on a referral and pre-bookable basis only.

Parents and guardians will be able to speak with a professional to access health advice and referrals to help children with speech and language development.

Staff at the centre are looking forward to seeing families and offering face-to-face support on the issues that matter to them, although walk-in meetings are not available just yet. This is to ensure the safety of parents, children, and staff.

Seacombe and Bromborough Children Centres will also be offering more face-to-face pre-bookable activity in the future and we will announce details once confirmed. Follow our My Child Can Facebook page to keep up to date on all our Children Centre updates.

Cllr Tom Usher, Cabinet Member for Children, Families and Education, said:

“We know that speaking to someone in person can help to alleviate worries or concerns for families, particularly in these times of uncertainty.

“That is why we’re making more face-to-face appointments available for those who need it – bringing expert advice closer and helping to speed up the process for families who need referrals to other healthcare professionals.”

Due to social distancing requirements, universal and group classes are not able to resume at the moment – but the council’s Early Childhood Services team is consistently reviewing Government guidance, and will be in touch when they can be brought back safely.

For anyone who is missing group classes at our children’s centres, please follow the My Child Can Facebook page where you can find an up-to-date timetable on the virtual classes held each week.

Via the My Child Can Facebook page, families can also access weekly ‘Let’s Talk’ live sessions at 10am on Wednesdays, where they can ask staff and health experts from the 0-19 Team whatever questions they have on a wide range of topics.
