The Junior section of Birkenhead Park’s ‘Iconic Wirral’ photography competition – set up to capture the peninsula’s most stunning features – has been won by local teenager Alisha Challinor.
Titled ‘Swiss Bridge,’ Alisha’s winning entry featured the park’s iconic Grade II listed bridge, which was designed by Joseph Paxton and opened in 1847.
Alisha was presented with a certificate and prize at Birkenhead Visitors’ Centre, where she was joined by other finalists including Fay Askew, Rhiannon Richards, Chloe Turney, Chloe Woods, Sophie Webb, and Emily Fisher.
Each of the girls featured take part in the council’s GIRLS photography and visual arts project, which is funded by NHS Wirral and designed to empower young people. The project has run for the last three years, and also covers personal safety, self-esteem and managing conflict.
