Further court action taken to address anti-social behaviour at Wallasey house

Wirral Anti-Social Behaviour Team, working in partnership with Merseyside Police, obtained a Closure Order yesterday (2nd November 2021) on a property that had become a hotspot for neighbourhood nuisance.

The Order on 27 Stringhey Road, Wallasey was sought in response to complaints from neighbours that people were attending the address day and night causing anti-social behaviour.

This behaviour included threats, shouting, foul language, assaults, banging on the property to be let in and constant visitors to the address all day and night, as well as breaches of a Partial Closure Order imposed on the property on 21st July 2021.

Wirral’s Anti-Social Behaviour Team started receiving complaints regarding the address on the 10th May 2021, but despite a closure warning being served to the tenant of the address, the behaviour continued.

A closure notice was served on the property on 8th July 2021, only allowing the tenant and her family to remain until today’s hearing.

On the 21st July, a three-month Partial Closure Order was granted and served on the property only allowing the tenant and her immediate family to enter the address.

Unfortunately, Wirral Council’s ASB Team received further reports of anti-social behaviour and also reports of breaches of the Partial Closure Order which resulted in people being summoned by Merseyside Police. A further application was submitted to the for a full Closure Order to prevent any person from entering the property and provide much need respite to the local community.

The order, which remains in force for three months until the 2nd February 2022, now prohibits any person from entering the property or garden areas unless they have permission to do so from Wirral Anti-Social Behaviour Team.

Anyone found in the property with no legal entitlement to be there would be arrested and liable for a prison sentence of up to three months a fine of up to £5000 or both.

The family are now being supported by officers from Wirral Council’s Children’s Services department and partner agencies.
