FANS of victorious Tranmere Rovers celebrated with their heroes at an official Civic Reception to mark their play-off final victory which has brought them back into the Football League.
The event took on Wednesday evening at Birkenhead Town Hall, and saw hundreds of fans cheering the team on the balcony of the town hall in Hamilton Square.
The National League play-off winners were also congratulated by Leader of Wirral Council Cllr Phil Davies and new Mayor of Wirral, Cllr Geoffrey Watt.
Tranmere Rovers chairman Mark Palios said: "This has been a historic few days for Tranmere and it is great that the players, the staff and most of all the supporters will have an opportunity to celebrate it together with the Council and the people of the Wirral.
“We are a community club, and celebrating with the community feels the right thing to do."
And Cllr Davies added: “Seeing Rovers back where they belong in the Football League is fantastic news for the whole borough.
“We all remember the glory days at Prenton Park, with the Johnny King and John Aldridge teams, and after the incredible result at the weekend, I am sure Micky Mellon and his team will be writing their own page in the Tranmere history books."
