Clean Air Day on 21 June is a chance for us all to do our bit and make the air cleaner and healthier for everyone.
The national campaign aims to tackle air pollution and make the environment that bit better for us all. Air pollution causes illnesses such as heart disease and worsens illnesses such as asthma, as well as being associated with dementia.
We can all make a difference by making a pledge to reduce the pollution we individually create.
You could pledge to:
- Walk/cycle to work on the day
- Walk the kids to school
- Switch your car engine off when possible
- Consider an electric vehicle in future
- Open your window when cooking or using cleaning products.
You can support Clean Air Day by downloading a pledge card here and sharing it on social media using the hashtags: #CleanAirDay #LCRCleanAirDay2018.
As part of the day, council staff from the transport and public health teams along with the Wirral Chamber of Commerce will be hosting a free event at Birkenhead Town Hall.
The event will see local businesses attending workshops to find out how they can be more sustainable and switch their business fleet to electric vehicles.
There’ll also be a showcase of various electric vehicles outside the building, so if you’re in the area, pop over the Town Hall to get more information between 11am and 1pm on 21st June.
Book your place at the event here.
