Could you use some time off the booze?

Many of us like to unwind with a glass of something after work, especially during the long hot summer evenings.  But if you're not careful it's easy for the occasional glass in the evening to quickly add up.

Men and women are advised not to drink more than 14 units of alcohol a week.  That’s the same as 6 pints of average strength beer or 10 small glasses of low strength wine.

A drink or two most days can do harm to your body, from making you gain weight to increasing your risk of developing health problems such as high blood pressure, liver problems, heart attack and some types of cancer, as well as having a negative impact on your life and those around you.

Drinking less is not only great for your health, it’s also great for your wallet too! Once you start cutting back, you may quickly find that you have more energy and feel less tired during the day.

Keen to cut down? You can still enjoy a drink without stopping altogether.  Why not swap strong beers or wine for lower-strength ones or choose a few alcohol-free days each week?  Or download the FREE ‘One You’ Days Off app to track your progress and provide you with practical daily support for alcohol free days.  Search ‘One You' for further information.
