Wirral’s official Proclamation of the Accession of the New Sovereign will take place tomorrow (Sunday 11 September), which will see the borough formally recognise King Charles III.

Members of the public are invited to attend the short ceremony which will take place from the balcony of Birkenhead Town Hall.

Pipers and drummers from Wirral Pipe Band will play from 2.15pm before the reading of the Proclamation at 2.30pm. The ceremony will be led by the Mayor of Wirral, Cllr Jeff Green, who will deliver the Proclamation Reading.  Also in attendance will be the Leader of the Council, Cllr Janette Williamson, and Deputy Lieutenant Nigel Lanceley, who will represent His Majesty.

In line with national guidance, the flag at Birkenhead and Wallasey Town Halls will remain at full mast until after Wirral’s Proclamation.

Parking in the area may be limited so those attending are asked to walk or take public transport if possible.
