Tomorrow's Women Wirral marks International Women's Day

It's International Women's Day tomorrow, March 8, 2018, a global celebration of the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women.

Local organisation, Tomorrow's Women Wirral (TWW), will be holding an event hosting performances from TWW’s Drama Group and its Empowering Voices Choir as well as a short screening of a film created by Tomorrow’s Journalists, at TWW.

Guest speaker will be TWW’s Patron Dame Lorna Muirhead, former Queen’s Lieutenant for Merseyside.

Women will also have the chance to learn more about the charity’s progress as well as ask questions.

The event, open only to women aged 18 plus, wil be held at Inspiration Hall, St Laurence’s Old School Site, Beckwith Street East, Birkenhead, from Noon-3pm.

The theme of IWD this year is ‘Press for Progress’ and everyone attending is invited to wear purple, in honour of solidarity with women around the globe.

Confirmed organisations holding stalls at our event are: Citizen’s Advice, Creative Youth, Wired, Amparo, SI Heswall, RASA, Sexual Health Wirral, N Compass Advocacy Support, Age UK Wirral, Regenda, Wirral Unite, Involve Northwest, Barnardo’s, Wirral Mencap, Early Help Team, Mersey Fire, Kirwans, Spider Project and Tomorrow’s Women Wirral.

There will also be a short ‘Open Mic’ session during the event. This is an opportunity for organisations to speak for a couple of minutes about their services and support.

Admission free (women 18 plus only). Lunch provided.
