Businesses operating in high-risk occupational settings such as factories, beauty salons and gyms are being offered COVID-19 testing support by Wirral Council.
Previously, many companies had received free lateral flow test kits via the national programme so their staff could test themselves twice a week in line with government guidance. However, the national programme came to an end on Saturday 31 July.
With cases still high in Wirral, the Council is keen to see companies continue to encourage staff to take twice weekly tests to help identify potential infection quickly and limit the spread of COVID-19. They are offering businesses who operate in a way that means close contact cannot be avoided, the opportunity to register and receive symptom-free test kits.
Examples of high-risk occupational workplace settings include:
Prisons and courts; Education, or childcare and children’s home; Domiciliary care; Supported living and extra care housing; Social care settings; Warehouses, factories, call-centres and food manufacturing.
Close contact services such as hairdressers, barbers, taxi drivers, beauticians, sports and massage therapists; the hospitality sector with customer-facing contact; Gyms and leisure facilities; National and regional infrastructure companies; Households of Multiple Occupancy, Shared House and Dormitories can also register to receive testing support.
Kits are free of charge. To find out more information and to register visit: COVID-19 symptom-free testing kits for businesses | www.wirral.gov.uk
