Parking charges temporarily lifted to help NHS and key workers

Wirral Council have temporarily suspended local authority parking charges across the borough.

The move is intended to help NHS staff and other key workers and residents, particularly those who are vulnerable.

Government advice is still in place to minimise travel to just essential journeys so car parks should only be used when absolutely necessary.

The temporary measure to suspend charges will support key workers as they move around the borough to work, or to shop for essentials, and to help our most vulnerable residents who may be struggling financially as a result of the coronavirus crisis and need to park close to amenities such as shops.

We ask that if you need to park around the borough, that you must follow the government’s social distancing guidelines which include:

• If you go out, stay 2 metres (6ft) away from other people at all times

• Wash your hands as soon as you get home

The temporary suspension of charges applies to on-street and off-street council-owned car parks only.

Private car park charges are not controlled by the council, it is advised that you check the signs before parking.
