Improvement works take place at Mersey and Ilchester Parks

Improvement works are taking place at Mersey and Ilchester Park from Monday 4 May whilst the parks remain closed to the public, as part of a funding program to improve local parks.

The funding, from Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government, is to help make parks more user friendly and attractive. Improvements will be made to the Multi Use games Areas, to enhance greenspace and introduce new features.

Works were temporarily suspended so that social distancing measures could be safely put in place for the workers and residents in the local area. The program can now safely continue to ensure that the area can be enjoyed when government announce that play areas can reopen.

Work will involve the cleaning of the play area surface and then colour coating and line marking, which will maintain, improve and enhance the playing surface.

During all works, the contractor will be complying with government guidelines on social distancing and wearing the appropriate PPE (Personal Protective Equipment).

Residents on their daily exercise visiting the surrounding parks of Mersey or Ilchester Park are asked to maintain the government’s social distancing guidelines and keep 2 metres apart.

The works will take approximately 2 weeks and are subject to weather conditions.
