Thousands of Wirral residents have already received essential practical support from the Hub during the COVID-19 crisis.
A partnership between the council, Feeding Birkenhead – Supporting Wirral, Wirral Foodbank and other community food providers, the hub is a centralised, co-ordinated effort to maintain a sustainable food distribution service for our most vulnerable residents for as long as the restrictions and risk remain.
The Emergency Food Hub is there primarily to help those in urgent need without the financial means or ability to provide for themselves and/or their families during this crisis.
Keeping this service just for the most vulnerable is vital, as Tom – one of our staff working at the hub – explained recently in our video.
For others – even those who are having to stay indoors – there are other ways they can receive assistance in getting shopping or deliveries of essential items, above and beyond the major supermarket chains.
The Wirral Infobank website has been set up to help Wirral residents find a provider of these services quickly and easily.
It is searchable by postcode and also by service type. It contains links to localised advice and information on other aspects of the crisis – it is like a virtual One Stop Shop for Wirral people to find out who and where to turn for support.
More or more services are registering on the Infobank site every day so the repository of contacts and information is growing all the time.
For emergency food and welfare assistance for those in urgent need go online or call the dedicated Coronavirus helpline number 0151 666 5050.
