A further 26 playgrounds set to reopen this weekend

From, Saturday 1 August another 26 council playgrounds will reopen, giving families and children more choice on where they can get out in the fresh air, get active and play.

32 of the council’s 67 playgrounds have already opened following extensive safety checks.

However, nine council playgrounds will remain closed until further notice after safety checks revealed the need for urgent repairs – some caused by vandalism. Some repairs require specific parts from across the UK and abroad so at this time, the council is unable to confirm a reopening date.

Updates on further openings will be posted on the Wirral View website and Wirral Council social media feeds

The council has been operating a phased reopening of playgrounds to allow safety checks to be carried out. Precautionary notices are in place at all open play areas advising visitors on the required safe play guidance they should follow. This includes parents/guardians cleaning equipment before use, supervising children to maintain hygiene and social distancing; and not eating and drinking on site. The guidance is in place to help families keep themselves others as safe as possible.

Visitors should not use the equipment if they or anyone in their household or bubble has coronavirus or is showing COVID-19 symptoms or if they have been told to self-isolate by NHS test and trace.
