The Community Heroes Awards, organised by Wirral Globe, honour, and recognise the NHS staff, shopworkers, volunteers and young people as well as business, education and hospitality workers who have gone above and beyond during the last 22 months.

The group, which was created by sisters Lindsey Whitley and Andrea Cutts, was originally set up to get like-minded people together and is now 2,700 members strong, on Facebook.

A spokesperson from Wirral Wombles, said: “It’s been fantastic to find so many wonderful people, some who were already active as litter pickers and others who have been inspired by the group.

“We love the idea of keeping your patch clean and giving Wirral the love it deserves.”
