Thingwall Primary awarded Plastic Free Schools status

Thingwall Primary School have been awarded Plastic Free Schools status from the Surfers Against Sewage team, in recognition of the part they're playing to protect our environment.

The award recognises the school’s effort to protect the environment through lots of activities, such as stopping unnecessary single use plastic in school and making pledges as part of Year of Environment.

A group of pupils from the school were invited to meet the Mayor who presented them with their award. Alongside this, the group had the chance to play the role of councillor as they took to the council chambers to speak with some of the council’s environment team about Wirral’s environment strategies.

The school have been dedicated in their environmental protection mission through a range of activities. From litter picking, encouraging businesses to make pledges, recycling their waste as much as possible and even growing vegetables!
