Keeping Wirral Connected and on the Road to Recovery

A major push to help Wirral recover from the effects of the pandemic is underway, with £4million funding being used to enable a number of grassroots community projects that will combat inequality, improve the mental health of young people, and give residents the skills and equipment needed to work and play in a digital world.

The funding is from the Government’s Contain Outbreak Management Fund (COMF) and is being used to deliver a range of projects, including:

• £1million to enable grassroots community organisations support innovative digital solutions for vulnerable people and improve digital access.
• A package of Mental Health services, including school-based support for young people and mental health first aid training for resident, businesses and groups.
• £1.5 million to bolster more than 50 local groups who played a critical role in the local pandemic response. The Community, Voluntary and Faith (CVF) Renewal Grant scheme has provided up to £50,000 to help build their resilience and allow them to continue delivering services that connect people, build confidence and encourage participation.
• Debt Management & Employment Support is a £500,000 scheme to enable Ask Us Wirral - a partnership of Citizens Advice Wirral, Age UK Wirral and Wirral Mencap and Wirral Change - to expand local debt management and financial advice services, and local charity Involve Northwest, to enhance their support to help get residents back into work.
