Help shape local mental health and wellbeing services
Residents can help shape the future of mental health and wellbeing services in Wirral as a survey launches to find out what support people need and how improvements could be made.
The Mental Health Needs Assessment (MHNA) runs from now until 10 March 2023 and is a review of the mental health and emotional wellbeing needs of Wirral’s communities. Its aim is to understand how local people are feeling across the borough, whether they can access services to get the help they need, and to find where improvements could be made.
The survey is open to all residents aged 18 and over in Wirral, whether they have accessed support for their mental health or not.
Cllr Yvonne Nolan, Chair of Wirral’s Adult Social Care and Public Health Committee, said:
Mental health and wellbeing is, thankfully, a topic that is being discussed more readily year on year. Helping people find the right support they need for their mental wellbeing is very much at the heart of keeping our communities thriving.
The isolation of the COVID lockdowns and the current financial pressures continue to feel tough for many of us. I’d encourage all residents to respond to this survey. Your feedback will help us better understand how our communities are coping, what is currently working and where we can improve on mental health services and wellbeing support for Wirral communities.
The questionnaire is anonymous and should only take a few minutes to complete. As well as asking about mental health, it also asks what improves people’s emotional wellbeing and their experiences of accessing support in Wirral.
The MHNA is being conducted on behalf of the council by Healthy Dialogues. It will be open for comments until Friday 10 March 2023.
Results from the survey will be used to understand what support people in Wirral currently access, and what could be done better to help people with their mental health and wellbeing. It will also help to inform decisions on strategies and interventions for improving mental wellbeing.
