You can now register for the tolling system that will operate on the new 6-lane Mersey Gateway bridge between Runcorn and Widnes which opens later this year.
The new toll bridge will open in Autumn 2017 relieve pressure on the current Silver Jubilee Bridge. Both the new Mersey Gateway Bridge and the Silver Jubilee Bridge will be tolled, but discounts are available if you register.
There are a number of ways to register, the website - www.merseyflow.co.uk - is the quickest option.
You can also call 01928 878 878 and register by phone.
Registering is the only way to get discounts on journeys across the Mersey if you live outside Halton.
Anyone, wherever they live, can also register for a pre-pay account, or monthly pass which both give discounts on the full unregistered toll fee.
It will still be possible to cross the bridge without registering but, if you do, you will have to pay the full unregistered toll fee which is £2 per car per crossing, with additional charges for larger vehicles.
When the new bridge opens, the Silver Jubilee Bridge will be closed to road traffic for up to 12 months while it is refurbished. However, it will remain open to pedestrians and cyclists.
